CHAPTER OBJECTIVES
Based upon their reading of Chapter 3, students should be able to:
- identify and discuss the research problems characteristic of the social sciences.
- understand units of analysis and be familiar with the ecological and individualistic fallacies.
- understand dependent, independent, control, continuous, and discrete variables,
- be familiar with the idea of relationships between variables and be able to describe hypotheses in terms of their magnitude and direction.
- construct hypotheses.
- identify and locate the various sources of information on research problems and hypotheses.
