CHAPTER OBJECTIVES
Based upon their reading of Chapter 8, students should be able to:
- discuss the aims of sampling, including how samples are utilized in describing populations.
- describe the various types of sample designs, distinguish between probability and nonprobability sampling procedures, and explain the pros and cons of each procedure.
- discuss the major types of probability sampling, their strengths and weaknesses, and how to select a sample using each method.
- understand the dynamics of sample size, including standard error and confidence interval.
- evaluate the factors that introduce nonsampling errors into an investigation.
