CHAPTER OBJECTIVES
Based upon their reading of Chapter 10, students should be able to:
- understand and describe the major methods of survey research.
- understand the advantages and disadvantages of questionnaires, personal interviews, telephone interviews, and online surveys.
- describe the different types of personal interviews.
- understand and describe the basic principles of interviewing.
- understand the benefits and drawbacks of online surveys, as well as the growing prevalence of live feeds and big data.
- be familiar with the relative strengths and weaknesses of the four major methods of data collection involved in survey research.
