    Denise Guinn

Denise Guinn received her B.A. in chemistry from the University of California at San Diego and her Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin. She was a National Institutes of Health postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University before joining Abbott Laboratories as a Research Scientist in the Pharmaceutical Products Discovery Group. In 1992, Dr. Guinn joined the faculty at Regis University, in Denver, Colorado, as Clare Boothe Luce Professor of chemistry, where she taught courses in general chemistry, organic chemistry, and the general, organic, and bio chemistry course for nursing and allied health majors. In 2008, she joined the chemistry department at The College of New Rochelle in New York where she teaches organic chemistry, biochemistry, and the one-semester GOB course for nursing students. She has published in the Journal of Organic Chemistry, the Journal of the American Chemical Society, and the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry.

She has two adult sons, Charles and Scott, who also assisted in the revision of the 2nd and 3rd editions. She currently resides in Nyack, New York with her dog, Puck, where she enjoys kayaking on the Hudson river in her spare time.
