Implementation Science Project Highlight

Research on Historically Marginalized Students

Research shows that metacognition is one of the most impactful strategies for students. As such, Macmillan Learning explores ways to incorporate metacognition into courseware and instruction.

Funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, a multi-semester research project involving thousands of students shows that students using more metacognitive strategies achieve higher academic performance. Specifically, the project reveals that completing Achieve's key assignments, like LearningCurve adaptive quizzes and Goal-setting and Reflective Surveys, improves course performance, especially for historically marginalized students.
